Posta on Sunday maintained their top position on the men’s basketball premier league table standings when they beat Kenya College of Accountancy-University 67-55 in an entertaining first leg encounter at the KCB Sports Club, Ruaraka.
The expected victory saw coach Ronnie Owino’s mailmen stay at the top of the 12-team competition with 18 points. Posta have so far played 10 matches, won eight and lost two.
Champions Kenya Commercial Bank Lions had only enjoyed the league leadership for a few hours following their 69-48 win Saturday’s over coach KCA-U
Lions had garnered two points which shot them at the top with 17 points from eight wins and one loss. but Posta were back on top after their win over KCA-U.
Kenya Ports Authority men and women’s teams returned home in celebration after winning all their four away matches. On Sunday, the new look KPA men’s team defeated winless Lomboritz 73-54 after leading 34-17 at half-time.
Earlier, the dockwomen had set the ball rolling after resisting pressure to defeat stubborn Strathmore University 45-30. The students had worried the experienced KPA from start by leading 14-6 in the first quarter and went ahead to enjoy a 20-17 half-time run.
On Saturday, KPA men’s team had rocked Terrorists 39-23 in a tension charged tie which international referee Joseph Amoko end end in the third quarter. The dockwomen had started their tour of Nairobi well with a huge 71-39 win over hosts Mennonites.
In other matches on Sunday, Sadja scored game-high 25 poinst while Linda Mfuchi hit 12 points to help Flames of the USIU-A beat Kenya Polytechnic.
