UGANDA : Warriors turn guns on Titans

Today at YMCA
Men: Warriorsv KIU
8.30pm
Women: KCC v Mak Cubs
6.30pm

For all their ability to deliver close shaves in the MTN-Fuba League, KIU Titans find themselves on the wrong end of the standings. Having managed only three victories in six games thus far, KIU face Kyambogo Warriors today at YMCA hoping for better luck as the season nears a short mid-season break.

Something has not been right and Brian Wati is taking note. “I think we need to finish better especially in the final moments of the game,” the KIU centre said after the narrow 71-66 loss to DMark Power.

High turnover rate
In that particular game, coach Nimrod Kaboha’s side committed 39 turnovers. Point guard Collins Onyango committed seven of these to go with eight points. A similar scenario might render this a no-contest basing on the outside quality Warriors will offer in the likes of Ivan Enabu and Ronnie Kasewu.

In addition, whatever KIU has in the size of Moses Olobo, Wati and the enigmatic Nathan Scott can be matched by Michael Kariuki and the Malinga brothers – Eric and Henry. Eric led last year’s losing finalists with 26 points when they smacked 7UP Falcons 92-77 just over 10 days ago. KIU would love to get the ball out of his sweet spots and make more contact on the inside.
In the day’s first game, KCC Leopards play Makerere Cubs in the women’s match.
