The Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (Fuba) elective assembly held at Kati Kati in Lugogo on Saturday unanimously adopted a new constitution reducing the number of executive members from 10 to seven.
These were massive changes as Ambrose Tashobya was returned unopposed as president in addition to most positions on the old executive being scrapped under the new dispensation.
Positions of general secretary and his deputy, treasurer, organising secretary, publicity secretary and the three executive members were scrapped. Tashobya will now have three vice-presidents.
In came Patrick Egwel as vice-president in charge of administration after beating the outgoing deputy Bob Buga with 23 votes to 11.
Yunus Nkutu (technical and competitions) and Robert Musisi (finance) went through unopposed.
Also elected unopposed was Ali Balunywa to lead the media, publicity, marketing and sponsorship commission. Viola Akuma edged Joy Olinga and Sylvia Kaweesa to the women’s commission headship. Justus Mugisha (26) beat Peter Kirabo (9) to the youth, mini-basketball and educational institutions’ responsibility.
The assembly also passed a resolution to appoint a chief executive officer to manage the affairs of the league. Eligible candidates will apply and get interviewed soon.
