Selected Ugandan basketball stars will this evening (7pm) challenge American Street Ball group, And 1, in an exhibition game at YMCA court.
The Americans, on an East Africa tour sponsored by Sprite, mesmerised crowds with exceptional skills on their first day in the country yesterday. They played against Green Hill Academy students and Kenyan import Richard Omondi.
Today, Miracle Eagles star Omondi will join Uganda’s leading players Norman Blick, Ben Komakech, Joseph Ikong and Mark Opio to try and outsmart the Americans before the home crowd.
And having watched them yesterday, local basketball federation general secretary Tom Ocamringa, is expecting tantalising action today starting with warm-up sessions.
“If you miss the warm- up, then you might as well tell yourself that you have skipped most of the action,” Ocamringa, who is managing the Americans, said.
In less than 30 minutes of exhibition basketball at Green Hill, the And 1 stars had long queues of mainly pupils waiting to have several items autographed.
They played a short 2-on-2 game and later switched to dunking.
The Street Ball superstars go by nicknames of Hot Sauce Spyda, Werm, Fifty, Amazing, Highrizer, Baby Shaq and Airbama.
