Dar es Salaam. Basketball Dar es Salaam (BD) is set to elect new leaders today at Ilala Municipal Hall.
BD managing director Mbaga Mwamboma, who will contest presidency, said the anxiously awaited general election would start at 1pm.

The official said BD would first hold the general meeting to discuss various development issues before going for the elections.“Preparations for both the meeting and elections are in place and I call upon all members to attend,” he said.
The new leaders will be in office for the next four years.

Mwamboma is expected to win the post unopposed following incumbent president Simon Msoffe’s decision not to contest.Msofe, who has held the same post since 2003, confirmed yesterday that he was not intending to seek re-election.

The outgoing president is the only longest serving official at the association. He has been in different positions since 1997.
