FOR as long as anyone cares to remember, the Falcons have always been in the basketball league playoffs. But needless to say, this year’s assembled team looks like an ordinary one compared to their predecessors.

The 7-Up bankrolled outfit has a single win and one loss so far. Today, they face newly promoted and winless Heaters and the former champions are desperate for a win tonight no matter what it takes.
“We want to take a game at a time because that will get us to the playoffs. We now have the team chemistry that we did not have at the start of the season,” said Falcons’ Emma Ateng.

This season’s battle for the ‘big four’ is written on the wall as mid-table teams like Miracle Eagles, KIU Titans, Ndejje and Nkumba Marines are fighting to be in the playoffs.
“I know it will not be easy against Falcons but we are going to do our very best,” said a confident Heaters coach Brian Wathum whose side has lost all their four games this season.

In the women’s category, UCU Lady Canons will seek to shake off a dismal performance following a 42-41 marginal victory last Friday when they survived humiliation against KIU. They face Crane High today.

Meanwhile, FIBA Afrique will celebrate their 50th anniversary at this year’s 10th edition of the All Africa Games due September 3-18 in Maputo, Mozambique.
