Kyambogo Warriors and Falcons’ charge towards the MTN-Fuba League semi-final play-offs continued in contrasting fashion on Saturday at YMCA court, Wandegeya. Falcons overcame an uncharacteristic slow start to defeat Ndejje University Angels 75-61 while Warriors cruised to a 92-47 victory over relegation-bound St. Michael.

In the late game, Ndejje took a low-scoring first quarter 14-13 before the six-time champions coasted through the final three periods 16-12, 18-17 and 28-18 respectively. It was a good shooting night for Falcons as Mike Buzangu (19), Bienvenue Ngandu (13), Albert Lunkunja (12), Cedric Simapiizi (11) and Karim Nkusi (10) reached double figures. Ngandu and Lunkunja picked 10 and six rebounds correspondingly to add to their impressive haul.

Earlier, Eric Malinga showed glimpses of his better days with 22 points, three rebounds and five assists in Warriors’ blow-out. The charged champions also had telling contributions from Abdullahi Ramadhan (19), Brian Gumisiriza (13), Jude Ochen (10) and Steven Okias (10) but it was the former who ran the show with eight assists.
