UGANDA : Afidra set for Nkumba

POWER have a mission for the second round of the FUBA men’s first division.
“We said to each other that we are not going to lose in the second around,” said Power all-star forward Isaac Afidra.

Three games in, that plan is firmly on course with Bernice Ankunda’s team having seen off the Miracle Eagles, Falcons and Ndejje Angels in impressive fashion.

Today it is Nkumba’s turn. The Marines take on Power in the last of the two games on show at YMCA, the other being the ladies encounter between the UCU Canons and Lady Bucks.

Timothy Odeke’s Marines begun the second round with hopes of qualifying for the post-season but successive defeats against the KIU Titans and Ndejje have all but ended that dream.

At the very least, the two-time national champions have to win the rest of their regular-season matches to stand a chance of getting into the playoffs.

That looks out of reach for Nkumba considering they still have to play all the top four teams, starting with Power.

If Ankumba are to upset Power, they will have to produce their best performance of the season yet.

Power are brimming with confidence and according to Nkunda, they are getting close to playing as he wants them to play.

“The players have started listening to my instructions and stopped trying to do their own things, some thing which is bearing fruits and I expect this to continue up to the end” said the coach who helped lead Power to their last championship two years ago.
