National Basketball league defending Champions APR (men) face their once upon a time archrivals Espoir today at the Primature courts.

The once most cherished basketball club in Rwanda, Espoir, has been struggling throughout this season, registering nine losses in 13 games.

The 2004 champions Espoir lost against the army side APR (75-55) in the first round of the championship and it has been the order of the day even in the previous encounters hence the dissolution of the rivalry.

In a phone interview with Times Sport, the APR coach Cliff Owour said that team is taking no chances since the game is essential.
“We can’t afford to lose any other game given the situation revolving around the championship. The competition is really tight,” said Owour.

The other weekend games include third placed Ruguga based CSK playing against the National University of Rwanda at their home grounds. CSK has 24 points in 13 games played while UNR has 17 points in 13 games.

In the women league, defending champions APR face KIE at Nyarugenge grounds at 10:00am while NUR takes on Groupe St. Joseph at the former’s ground.
