As this year’s Nestle Milo Secondary Schools Basketball Championship draws nearer, Lagos State representatives, University of Lagos, International School are sure of the state government’s support in the competition.
According to the Chairman of Lagos State Sports Council, LSSC, Agboola Dabiri, the council has directed the state’s basketball association to give the school all the necessary support that will make them win the championship.
Dabiri, who is a former member of the state’s Football Association, stated that the board will give the school all the support it needed to make the state proud.
He said the council is in tune with the vision of the state government through the Ministry of Sports to develop sports from the grassroots.
He noted that the young basketballers are the future of the game not only in the state but in the country, hence the technical input of the state for proper coaching and development matters.
He also praised the sponsors, Nestle Nigeria PLC for bankrolling the championship for the past 10 years. He charged them to continue to support the youths, who are the future of the country.
Six schools in both the boys and girls categories have already qualifed for the finals, which will hold in Lagos next month.
