KIU recovered from 94-62 defeat in game one of the play-off semifinals to stun D’Mark Power with a 71-68 victory in the second game at YMCA courts in Wandegeya on Sunday.
The tight contest that kept fans protesting the umpires’ decisions had Norman Blick score a game high 27 points for Power and Makmot Orom 24 for KIU.
“The boys lived by our game plan and we won. But we have a lot to improve if we are to win the third game,” KIU tactician Nimrod Kaboha said.
“It’s a star side but we just played our game and had confidence that we can beat them the way we did in the second round league match,” Kaboha added.
Power’s Blick said: “We diverted from our team work game plan and played an individual game.”
He said they are going to work on their defence and offence tactics for the next game set for the weekend.
Meanwhile, basketball body FUBA’s technical committee is yet to review the UCU Lady Canons petition that seeks to nullify their Saturday result against A1 Challenge. The Canons lost the first playoff semifinal game 59-58.
The Mukono based Uganda Christian University side claims that match officials erred by stopping the clock while the game was still in play.
