FIBA Africa Champions Club for Men Zone-III : Ellan, ASPAC win opening games

As the race for who pick the two tickets in the FIBA Africa Champions Club for Men Zone-III gets tougher, the two clubs representing Benin Republic, Ellan basketball club of Port Novo and ASPAC basketball club of Cotonou have continue to wax stronger winning their opening games.

Élan who have posted two wins so far over Model Basket of Togo (77-62) last Saturday and a 74-63 point's victory over Liberia NPA Pythons on Sunday to move to the top of the five-team elimination series.
ASPAC on the other hand picked its first victory against Model Basket of Togo on Sunday with a resounding 89-64 points win.
ASPAC will Monday (today) play the game of its live with a duel against Nigeria sole representative, Kano Pillars basketball club at the IRSP gymnase, Ouidah by 17.00Hour.

The game which is the second for the Coach Peter Ahmedu tutored ASPAC side and the first for the Nigerian champion, Pillars promises to be the real test for both sides going by the pedigree of the teams.

The elimination series ends on Friday where the two clubs that will represent the zone will emerge to vie for the silverware among the continent best at the final round of the 2009 edition of the FIBA Africa most prestigious club competition in Kigali , Rwanda from December 11 through 20.
