Interclube basketball club of Angola Friday played the game of their lives to go past A’Politecnica basketball club of Mozambique by 62-58 points in the second quarter-final game decided at the IRSP gymnase, Benin Republic.
Both sides had started the high tempo game on a cautious note with the first quarter ending at 14 points apiece before the Mozambican side took charge of proceeding in the second quarter winning by 21-12 points to open up a nine point’s margin of 35-26 points.
But 39-year-old Interclube inspirational player, Irene Guerreiro inspired her team-mates to fight back at the resumption of play in the third quarter through the remaining part of the game winning the last two quarters by 17-10 and 19-13.
Iida Diakanomua led the Angolan club with 16 points, Guerreiro poured in 11 points while Ngiendula Filipe added 10 points and 5 rebounds to help them their team sail through to the semi-final where they will square-up against First Bank basketball club of Nigeria in the first semi-final at IRSP gymnase in Ouidah, Benin Republic.
A’Politecnica of Mozambique will take on Nigeria First Deepwater basketball club in the race a place in the 5th to 8th position at 12.00Hour.
