Uganda Christian University (UC) Canons star Ivan Enabu is one of the most excting players in the country and two of his younger brothers are in for greater things.
Emmanuel Enabu, 18, is among the five lucky younsters selected over the weekend to benefit from the Basketball Without Boarders (BWB) training camp due next month in South Africa.
Emmanuel follows in the footsteps of his immediate elder brother Jimmy Enabu, who took part in the 2007 BWB. The other players going for the clinic include Geoffrey Soro, James Okello, Isaac Kamya and William Otweyo.
NBA star Juwan Howard led a team of other local officials as they picked the five from over 100 players. Howard revealed he had been awed by the emerging talent in Uganda and tipped the East African region to become a force on the continent.
“If you can get better facilities and spread the game in the countryside, Uganda has a bright future,” he said. Coca-Cola under their sprite brand, sponsored the talent search campaign that started with mini-camps in Fort Portal, Mbale and Gulu.
It’s the first time Uganda will be taking more than two players to the South African camp that begins on September 2.
