Hard fighting First Deepwater basketball club of Lagos Wednesday taste the bitter pill of defeat going down by 71-57 points to defending champion, First Bank basketball club in the Day-six of the second phase of the Zenith Bank Women Premier League at the sports hall of the Asaba Township Stadium.
The Lateef Erinfolami tutored Oil & Gas ladies won the first quarter by 16-15 points tied the second quarter at 19 points apiece to take a one point lead into half-time of 35-34 points.
First Bank Nigeria international guard, Funmilayo Ojelabi inspired her teammate from the reality of being beaten in the third quarter which they won by 16-08 points to take a seven points lead into the last quarter which they also won by 21-14 points for a final scores of 71-57 points.
The dark-skin Ojelabi led the floor with 18 points and 5 rebounds while her fellow Elephant Girl, Bintu Badmos added 12 points to extend their side unbeaten record in the last ten years in the Nigeria domestic scene while First Deepwater duo, Magdalene Ukato and Patricia Chukwuma each scored 13 points, 4 rebounds and 11 points, 7 rebounds.
In the first decided earlier in the fixtures, AHIP Queens basketball club of Kano defeated depleted Nigeria Immigration basketball club by 58-46 points for a 2-4 record.
