Semi-finalists emerged Thursday night at the Royal Hoopers Classics with host team Royal Hoopers topping Group A with a total of 10 maximum points in their kitty while Yelwa Hawks finished second with 9 points.
In Group B, Ebun Comets took a last minute victory over Dodan Warriors in the last game of the group. Comets over came Warriors by 56-55 to top the pool with 10 points while warriors ended the group with 8 points. ASPAC of Benin Republic also had 8 points but were knocked off the qualification on head-to-head classification. Union Bank also finished with 8 points but lost out by the same process.
Delta Force finished the group with 7 points while Abuja Rocks finished with 6points. They almost caused a stir in their last game against Royal Hoopers in their final group game losing with just two points in a match their coach Emmanuel Odah described “as controversial.” Elpizo of Cote d’Ivoire also got 6points while Bayelsa Waves finished last in the group with 5 points having lost all their games.
Semi-final parings on Friday will see Warriors play hosts Royal Hoopers in the first semi finals while Comets take on Yelwa Hawks. The final match comes up on Saturday, August at the Police Officers Mess in Old GRA, Port Harcourt.
