UGANDA : Blick takes game to Power buddies

Today at YMCA Court
M:Miracle v Power (8.30pm
W:UCU v A1 Challenge(5.30pm)

Miracle Eagles desperately want to reach the MTN-Fuba League play-offs for the first time in their history.
It’s going to be a long journey starting with a game against champions DMark Power when the league tips-off today at YMCA Court, Wandegeya.

The entire plot could be centred on just one person – Norman Blick. Having left Power for Miracle in the off-season, all eyes are on the four-time champion.

Here, he will shoulder some of the burden to lessen the attention on Stephen Omony in a team without a coach. “The reason we missed play-offs last season was a poor first round. We cannot afford to start slowly again,” Miracle chief executive officer (CEO) Brian Minge said in recalling the six losses before the turn.

Consecutive titles
They missed the postseason by just one game whereas Power must still be thinking about the thrilling 4-3 final series victory over Kyambogo Warriors.

Bernice Ankunda is bidding to become the first Power coach to win back to back titles. Tying MVP Ben Komakech to another deal was a masterstroke but with Blick’s leadership gone, forward Isaac Afidra and shooting guard Joseph Ikong need to step up.

Jimmy Enabu, who joined from UCU Canons to play alongside his brother Emmanuel Enabu, will be key to their transition game and full court press.
