Stephen Omony, Richard Osano Omondi and Norman Blick will all don the Miracle Eagles’ blue strip when the MTN-Fuba League season starts later this month.
This was confirmed after Blick left champions DMark Power last week to sign for Miracle on a one-year deal.
Speculation of Blick’s imminent move had been rife following the expiry of his two-year contract at Power until Miracle Chief Executive Officer Brian Minge confirmed to Daily Monitor yesterday.
“He signed a one-year contract with us,” Minge said in a short comment. It’s been a quiet transfer season so far save for Omondi joining Miracle from Falcons earlier.
Having come close to reaching the postseason for the first time in their history, the acquisition of the small forward will raise the expectations.
Blick is the reigning regular season Most Valuable Player (MVP) and also won the postseason equivalent when he led Skyjammers (2001) and Nkumba Marines (2005) to their maiden crowns.
His signing must open the door for centre Brian Ssentogo to join Ndejje University Angels though Minge says it’s not that straightforward. “Blick is the last player we will sign. In addition, no one is leaving. For Brian, there have been talks but nothing concrete yet. We have 16 players and want all to stay,” Minge added.
This might imply that Ben Komakech may stay with Power if Kyambogo Warriors don’t snatch him. It remains to be seen what will become of Power as CEO Alex Kasendwa has been hard to trace for months now.
