Hosts Nairobi are through to the semi finals of the ongoing in the Sprite/Smart TV East and Central Africa Inter Cities championships at the Nyayo national stadium after upsetting defending champions Mombasa.
Nairobi who now top pool A qualified after an 81-56 win over Mombasa on Wednesday.
Mombasa however recovered to beat Mwanza with a 78-65 win on Thursday over Mwanza of Tanzania. The final game pool A game pitting Juba and Nairobi will be a nut cracker after the Sudanese team making their debut in the regional event winning a closely contested tie against Mombasa, 65-58.
In pool B, Kenya University also sealed their last four berth with a convincing win of 64-20 against winless Mogadishu on Thursday.
In the four team ladies competition, Maureen Andali scored 20 points in KUSA’s 64-20 win over Mogadishu. The Somali team had earlier lost to the Combined team 75-12.
Nairobi Select and Nairobi Combined will battle for the top position in the ladies event.
The tournament ends on Saturday,April 23.
