GHANA : Hoops ger hard fought victory against Warriors 47-51

The Prisons Court was the battle stage for this game. Basketball fans in Accra know that once these two teams meet good basketball is all they are expected to see. They were not let down as both teams brought it on from jump ball. In the first quarter both teams showed brilliant individual play. Warriors were slow down by one on one defensive pleasure while Hoops work the ball to find decent shots from the field. The quarter ended 12 apiece and all in attendance knew we were on for a long hustle game.

The duo of Sky Walker and Osofo who were absent in the last game was present this time and their combination played a big row in the team victory. Their presence brought the much needed energy the others needed to feed on and in the second quarter, a ten points gap was open and it seems like an easy win for Hoops. The second half started strong for the home team taking a 12-8 run but they were still down by one point with Hoops taking a one point lead into the fourth and final quarter. There were five ties in the fourth quarter and the fans were all on their feet as the ding dong battle went on. In the end, experience won. The combine experience of Meme, Sky Walker, Osofo and Alex give Hoops a 15-18 score for the quarter giving the victory to the new looking Hoops team, 47-51. There was jubilation among the Hoops players and supporters when the final whistle was sounded. “This is a great victory which we badly needed but it still show the amount of work needed to be done if we are to claim this year championship.” Said Coach C of Hoops. Asst. Coach D advice all players to be on camp by Wednesday for team work sections. Player of the week is Benjamin D. who bucket 13pts in the W. The other Hoops player in double digit is Meme F. who had 10pts including the game only break away slam. We are now 2-0 to start the season. Next match is 9th April against Reformers at 4pm, Lebanon House. Be there!
