The second edition of the UCU Invitation tourney will run on the weekend of 19th-20th March 2011 in Mukono. Since the first edition last year, the tourney gives the best insight into teams' preparations and recruitments for the FUBA National Basketball league scheduled to start in April.
Many anxiously wait to see how teams like Miracle will play. Miracle will be a team to watched out for this season having beefed up their squad with Richard Osanoh Omondi and star pointguard Francis Tumusiime. The former Falcon duo that never got to play together last year when Francis sat out the whole season due to injury now joins star playmaker Stephen Omony to challenge for the first ever silverware in the club's history.
In the UCU Tourney, we will see what structures and players have remained at Power and Warriors. Power especially have around 7 players who are free agents, including Norman Blick, MVP Ben Koma and Joseph Ikong.
Warriors are doubted to keep Okwako Martin who is said to be moving to UCU where he is pursuing further studies. Also doubted is the re appearance of Ramadhan Abdullahi from TZ and even more doubted is the fact whether Eteu Gad will retain the job as Warriors coach after unestablished rumours that he actually quit after the playoffs last year.
There's too much specualtion at the moment but the UCU tourney will give us the best picture of what the season will be like.
