The University’s men and women basketball team moved to the top of the Kenya University Sports Association (KUSA) leagues following wins over the weekend. The teams are also the defending champions of the leagues.
Blades, the men team beat University of Nairobi ‘Terrorists’ 50-46 in a match played at USIU on Sunday. Joseph Owino scored 20 points for Blades, and is now on top of the scorers table with 27 points.
Swords, the women team beat Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA). Mellisa Akinyi topped the score list with eight points.
Blades posted another hard earned 53-47 win over CUEA. Coach Tony Ochieng said his boys have their eyes on the crown once again. The play offs start in mid March.
