It’s been long coming but when their first victory of the MTN-Fuba League season did arrive, it was a little too late as Berkley will still be relegated from the men’s division one.
Berkley put some shine on forgettable season with a nervy 72-69 victory over St. Michael at YMCA court, Wandegeya on Saturday night.

Both sides are bound for division two after just one season in the topflight. Ironically, St. Michael’s only win came against Berkley in the first round but it wasn’t to be as the latter’s William Odong capped his remarkable season with 18 points, six rebounds and seven assists.

He got support from Daniel Jjuko (13) and Isaac Kigozi (12) to render Roma Anania’s figures of 18-5-6 insufficient for St. Michael.

Andrew Okello (16), Babui Amin (13) and Daniel Owiti (10) made what proved futile attempts to dent a resilient Berkley.
In the women’s division, Lady Bucks beat Amazon 63-44 whereas Nabisunsa thrashed Crane High School 88-37to clinch the game between two high school teams.

Elsewhere, the re-scheduled top-of-the-table clash between UCU Canons and DMark Power will take place on Wednesday at YMCA as the regular season winds down this Saturday. Fuba is hopeful the play-offs will take lace at Lugogo Indoor stadium.
