RWANDA : Teams arrive for Afrobasket Kagame Cup


FOUR teams are expected to jet in today for the highly anticipated Afrobasket U-18 Kagame Cup which rolls off this Friday at Amahoro indoor stadium.

The teams in question include defending champions Egypt, five-time champions Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Congo Brazzaville, who beat DRC to that elusive Zone 4 slot.

Another batch involving Tunisia, Algeria, 1988 champions Angola, Mali and Gabon are expected to arrive on Thursday, according to the National Basketball Federation (Ferwaba) Secretary General Jean Lucien Mugabo.

“As we wait for Mozambique and Zimbabwe to confirm their arrival dates, we can confirm that majority of the teams will be in the country by Thursday evening,” Mugabo confirmed.

The nine-day tournament will be jointly staged at Amahoro Indoor stadium and Green Hills academy.

La Palisse Nyandungu hotel will host six teams; five teams will stay in Lemigo hotel, while the home team is already settled in at Belvedere village.
