Barring any upsets, Ronnie Kasewu will be crowned the 2009 Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the fraternity’s awards ceremony tomorrow.
The event will be held at Imperial Royale Hotel. Basketball governing body, Fuba was by press time scrutinizing a shortlist of nominees for different awards but there is no denying the fact that Kasewu is the favourite to pick the men’s overall award.
Kasewu, who emerged top scorer in the Zone 5 tournament and spurred Warriors to their first league title, was on Monday named the country’s best basketball player for 2009 by the Uganda Sports Press Association (Uspa). “The shortlist has already been drawn by the technical committee but we want to scrutinize it as the executive,” Fuba general secretary Tom Ocamringa told Daily Monitor yesterday evening.
“We’ve got to make sure there are no surprise winners,” he added. MTN are sponsoring the awards.
