Dar Es Salaam — VIJANA 'City Bulls' whitewashed Cargo 75-24, in a one-sided encounter of the ongoing RBA league at the National Indoor Stadium in Dar es Salaam yesterday.
The victory saw the 'City Bulls' go top of the table with eight points ahead of pre-league favourites and defending champions Savio, who have bagged six points so far. It was Vijana's fourth straight victory in the league out of four matches they have so far played.
Savio, who were on the sideline yesterday, have played three matches, winning them all.
In yesterday’s match, the victors started strongly and snatched a 17-6 lead in the first quarter. They continued to stretch their muscle that saw them extending their lead to 33-15 at the breather.
On resumption, Vijana started from where they had left in the first two quarters. They pinned their opponents at their own domain, scoring points almost at will. Cargo could not match Vijana's vigour, flexibility and speed as they were completely outplayed in the third and quarter, which saw Vijana recording massive 42 points, while Cargo managed seven.
Vijana's Emma Mwikalo was the top scorer for his team with 12 points, followed by Mwalim Heri, who also notched 12 points. Andrew Sam of Cargo posted 14 points, while his team mate Mbaraka Nassoro scored four points.
