NIGERIA : Summer camps provide triple basketball boost for African kids

African Basketball Online (ABO) will host its third annual basketball camp and coaches clinic in Nigeria, Mali and Ivory Coast from August 10-15.

ABO is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to developing basketball, and providing leadership education to students, coaches, administrators and organizations in Africa through ABO’s African Basketball Development Project (ABDP.)

Since its inception in 2006, ABO has successfully organised and implemented several basketball camps in Nigeria. In August 2006, the first Basketball Camp was held in Abuja and Lagos - and was attended by about 300 kids and about 15 coaches from different states in Nigeria.
During that initial camp, ABO donated basketball equipment (coaches, resources, basketballs and basketball shoes) to the participants at the camps.

In August 2007, the president and founder of ABO, Eyo Effiong, visited local basketball academies in Lagos and donated basketball materials and equipment to various basketball academies.

A year later, ABO sponsored the "Youth Alive Basketball Camp" at the University of Lagos.
