Today at YMCA
M: Rhinos v Miracle (8.30pm)
W: Amazon v M. Cubs (6.30pm)
Charging Rhinos have repeatedly spoken of their desire to stay in the MTN-Fuba League Division One.
The former champions are matching this ambition so far with one victory and a glorified 77-75 loss to DMark Power. Today at YMCA, Rhinos seek another huge scalp in Miracle Eagles after putting the champions’ backs on the wall before succumbing last week.
It’s important that the wildly cheered Rhinos maintain the spirit. Of course, shooting guard Mark Opio is expected to carry most of the yoke which he has done very well with 39 points in two games. However, the support of Walter Omony, who had 20 points against Power, is the key even if they have found another fall back in Abel Omongin.
The latter, a guard, was brilliant in handling the ball but they will need more of his temperament with Miracle chasing a maiden post season slot. This ambition came with signing forward Norman Blick from Power to link up with shooting guard Stephen Omony.
Right mentality
“Our team is a work in progress. At this point, we need to work on the mentality,” Omony, a coach-player for now, said. They played well in losing to Power (91-96) then laboured past Heaters (69-45) showing a lack of consistency. Ex-Falcon Francis Tumusiime is expected to get some minutes after lengthy troubles with ankle and knee injuries.
