RWANDA : KBC out to set record straight

UGB vs CSK (10am)
KIE vs Rusizi (10am)
KBC vs APR (12pm)

THE eagerly awaited National Basketball League throws off tomorrow with a hotly contested game between reigning champions Kigali Basketball Club (KBC) and big guns APR at Amahoro Indoor Stadium.

Heads are expected to roll as KBC try to prove that last year’s heroics were not a stroke of luck.

Led by inspirational center Fiston Muhire, KBC pipped Cliff Owour’s indomitable lions to the title by one point.

But the former Kenyan International, who has strengthened his team by signing shooting forward Patrick Buzangu from Zambia, is determined to wrestle the title away from KCB.

“We did not play to our potential last year. We were not consistent enough but we have done a lot during the off season and are in good shape for the new season,” Owuor said.

Muhire, who also won the league with Marines, has warned APR. “We are not going to sit back and fold our arms; we want to retain the league title and the best way of doing that is to win games.”

The game will be preceded by a clash between UGB and CSK. The other day’s game pits Kigali Institute of Education (KIE) against Rusizi. Espoir and National University of Rwanda (NUR) are the other teams in contention
