THIRTEEN teams are lined up for the Coast basketball league scheduled for this weekend at the Mombasa Baptist High School.
The tournament according to the Coast Basketball Association (CBA), has attracted teams from local public universities.
Speaking in Mombasa yesterday, CBA chairman Ali Hilmy said local clubs and Mombasa-based universities were among those enlisted for the event. Hilmy, who was flanked by CBA secretary, Jimnah Kimani, said the University of Nairobi and Kenyatta University are among the institutions of higher learning expected to take part. "The league has elicited an overwhelming response with teams representing public universities confirming their participation," he said. Other clubs expected are Makupa Lakers, Makande Rebels, Kiembeni Heats, Changamwe Rollers, Coastal Kings and Oceaners. A number of secondary school teams including hosts Mombasa Baptist and Changamwe High schools will also battle it out for the top honours.
