THE UCU Canons rallied from 14-21 down in the first quarter to beat Nkumba Marines 74-65 and maintain hopes of toping the men’s first division in the basketball league.
“The Marines came out strong today and wanted to win but we outscored them in the last quarter (24-14) and played good defense,” said Canon coach Nick Natuhereza.
Robert Ogweno scored a game high 19 points as his teammates Adam Njoroge and Mwesigye added 11 and 10 points respectively. Marines’ point guard Ladislaus Ikungura and Alex Mugoya dropped 17 points apiece but could not help their side win.
Meanwhile six Power players scored in double figures as they recovered from Friday’s loss to Warriors by defeating the Knight Riders 109-63 on Sunday evening.
