KENYA’s strength and experience turned Uganda’s passionate resistance into a joke to register a thumping 68-32 win in the women’s category at the Zone Five All Nations Qualifier in Kigali yesterday.
The talented Maureen Amoding dropped a team-high 12 points but her effort were much too small in the avalanche that was a ruthless Kenya.
The result ended what little hope Uganda had of clinching a top two finish that would have had them qualify for the continental championship.
Uganda had already lost to Burundi and still have to play hosts and unbeatable favourites Rwanda.
There was, of course, only faint hope of this young Uganda side claiming a ticket for the African championship but there was hope that it would offer a glimpse of their potential.
Not on yesterday’s performance.
After a valiant first half display in which Uganda scored 23 to Kenya’s 44, they collapsed in the third quarter, failing to score in the entire period.
