NATIONAL Sports Council of Zambia general secretary Rogers Chipili has urged Zambia Basketball Association teams to qualify to the All Africa Games.
Chipili said during a send-off ceremony on Friday evening that there should be no compromise on qualifying to the 2011 All Africa Games set for Maputo in September.
ZBA has fielded two teams that will participate in the All Africa Games qualifier starting tomorrow in South Africa.
“Your aim should be to qualify, nothing less. We expect you to be focused and disciplined and bring honour to the country,” said Chipili.
Meanwhile, Obert Muleza of Green Eagles has been ruled out of the men’s team after failing to secure travel documents on time.
Coach Lovemore Sikale said he has since replaced Muleza with Chris Kabongo of LCC Looters.
“It’s unfortunate he failed to obtain his travel papers on time, but we are confident of winning. The spirit in camp is high and I don’t think our going by road will affect us. We will just negotiate with organisers so that we play our games late on Monday,” Sikale said.
The teams left Lusaka for South Africa by road yesterday.
