Oilers edged out holders JKT 67-64 in a thrilling Regional Basketball League (RBA) match held at the National Indoor Stadium on Sunday.
Gerald Baru was instrumental in his team's sterling display to down JKT who boasted an impressive winning streak, handing them the first defeat of the season.
Baru, who scored 14 points, dictated the centre field distributing marvellous passes to his teammates.
Despite his brilliance, it was Lusajo Samuel of Oilers who emerged the top scorer having chalked 21 points followed by Pius Seni with 17.
JKT scored their points through Frank Kusiga who penned 22 points while Himid Choka notched 20.
Spirited Oilers led the first quarter 16-13 and went on to post 36-23 in the half time. Third quarter saw the winners lead by 51-46.
JKT fought hard and managed to level the score at the start of the final quarter before Baru's last minute pointer earned his team a narrow three point win.
