A bevy of fans filled the YMCA arena in Wandegeya with lots of music and Nyama Choma aroma filling the air. At some point one would think there was a musical gala or a fashion show but all that was happening was the Castle Lite Friday Night Lights basketball show.
And if families where to play in the Fuba League, then there would be a battle between the Blick Family and the Enabu Family. But maybe latter would triumph considering that four siblings play in the top flight league with only sister Evelyn Enabu playing for UCU Lady Canons.
Team Enabu whitewashed Team Wazee 56-32 in the second round of the pre-season tournament dubbed Friday Night Lights which is meant for fans to interact with the top stars in the league.
Emma Enabu and Jimmy Enabu combined for 21 points to ensure their team kept an eye on the top prize. “We came to have fun but also to make our name great” said Jimmy in the post match interview.
Team Mukiza also proved a force to reckon with when they beat Team Kasewu 66-52 in another thrilling game characterised by dunks, alley hoops and brilliant passes.
The highlight of the day was when Team Koma which has both the men’s and women’s Most Valuable Players (MVP) in Ben Komakech and Maureen Amoding combining to beat last week’s super power Team Omwony 52-44 in awe-inspiring style.
Rugby star cum basketball player Allan Musoke was the star of Team Omwony with a game high 10 points but they were not enough to save his side from defeat.
