A-1 Challenge has confirmed that centre Elizabeth Bazira, has been ruled out of action for the rest of the post season following a bone dislocation on her wrist during game two against the UCU Lady Canons on Sunday at Lugogo Indoor stadium.
“She means a lot to us as a team and we are surely going to miss her presence and effectiveness on court,” said Carol Mugasha, the A-1 spokesperson.
Bazira, who helped her team oust the defending champions, KCC Leopards in the semi finals playoffs picked 25 rebounds and dropped 26 points in the best-of-five games to show her prowess in the paint.
However, A-1 now has to make sure that the trio of Betty Namukasa, Angella Lokidi and Vicky Nassolo become more effective as they chase the UCU Lady Canons who are leading the best-of-seven series 2-0.
The aggressive centre scored 22 points and also picked 11 rebounds against UCU in the two playoffs finals games.
Mugasha further explains that, “The best we can do now is to win for her.”
“We have no option at this moment but to win game three on Sunday if we want to win this title this year. We dont have to allow them make a come-back,” she said about the next encounter expected to be at Wandegeya.
